Whitchurch V Crewe & Nantwich 21st September
Whitchurch scored first blood with a try after two minutes but failed to convert, we came back strong with Matt Docherty scoring a try and gaining the conversion some four minutes later. Whitchurch got organised and created a very good defensive line, coupled with quick hands they regularly turned the ball and managed to score three more tries with two conversions before half time.
In the second half a little discipline was lost (accordong to the ref!) Crewe got penalised a number of times for not moving back the correct distance at a number of penalties plus some discrepancies in the scrum. This dented moral somewhat but on the reverse of that our tackling got firmer and more consistent although still not enough to stop Whitchurch scoring another three trys with no conversion to our one try half way through the second half by Dale Brown on the right wing, fed again by Matt Docherty two yards from the try line in what was a great display of team play. Whitchurch had a player sent off for striking our fullback whilst he was running back to support his team.
