Under 14’s Match Report
SUNDAY 11th OCTOBER 2009 Northwich 12 Crewe & Nantwich 69
PLAYED 4 WON 4
The roll carried on today when we were guests at Northwich who only had 13 players. The decision was to play a 13 a side game (without Flankers) and Crewe & Nantwich resumed their form with a flying start from Paul Scull, again showing us why the switch to Centre paid off.
Within 20 minutes Crewe & Nantwich were 26 – 0 up with tries from Paul Scull, Joe Wye, Will Linde and Damon Genade. Will Nevil also arrived on the score sheet, before Damon crashed over again to give Crewe & Nantwich a well deserved 38 points to 7 half time advantage.
With some strong words from the referee at the break for both teams regarding discipline, the second half started with some “handbags” which resulted in an un-planned break and a Northwich player given an opportunity to calm down off the pitch. Though the Crewe & Nantwich boys remained quite calm their off the ball chat was not acceptable and I’m sure that will improve as the season progresses.
At the restart scrum, Will Linde crashed through the Northwich defence twice again and when Northwich took a kick straight to Jaques Cador in his own half they didn’t realise they were going to witness “Try Of The Day” as Cador off-loaded to his BRILLIANT supporting forwards, who took on tackle after tackle to reach the line and pas back to the originator to go over for a well deserved score.
Will Nevil and Will Linde finished off the game with a try each to leave the final score at: Northwich 12 Crewe & Nantwich 69.
Crewe & Nantwich tries were scored by;-
Will Linde “The Usual” (4) Will Nevil (2) Damon Genade (2) Joe Wye, Paul Scull and Jaques Cador. Conversions from Eddie Spibey (2) Ben Telfer (5)

SUNDAY 4th OCTOBER 2009
Crewe & Nantwich 40 Winnington Park 24
PLAYED 3 WON 3
For our third game of the season, we had a slow start with some positional changes. Winnington started strong and went ahead with a converted try after 5 minutes.
When Crewe & Nantwich got their heads into gear, Eddie Spibey went over in the corner to leave Ben Telfer a difficult Conversion which he popped over to level the scores. Will Linde then Scored to give Crewe & Nantwich the boost required to step up a level.
Overall there were some great performances from Will Duckers, Brad Brewer and Will Nevil.
Crewe & Nantwich tries were scored by;-

Report:
For our first game of the season, we had an excellent start with New players and some positional changes. The switch of Wll Linde to Prop and Brad Brewer to Number 8 gave us domination in the scrums and quick ball from the back. George Price certainly picked up the scrum half role very well and from the beginning, we took the game to the whitchurch forwards.
Will Linde opened the scoring with a great 40m run, carving his way through the Whitchurch defence and got his second with a great catch from a line-out to crash his way through again with determination.
Paul Scull provided us with our next try, showing again his speed and strength with ball in hand, running 45m to score between the posts. He also did well when we switched him to inside Centre following Chris Lawrence’s injury. Ben Telfer succeeded with the conversion on his third attempt to give us a 17 points advantage at half time.
Steady Eddie was back in the scoring habit today with an excellent early second half try and his defensive play was outstanding. With two more tries from The “Demon Damon” and debutante “Curly Calum” all converted by Ben & Eddie, we came out 36 points ahead with no points conceded.
All in all, everyone contributed with 100% commitment and defensively, Will Duckers, Alex Sinclair and Joe Wye stood out with some brilliant tackles.
New player Seb Wilson had an outstanding game and certainly impressed his colleagues with his commitment and attitude in his first ever game.
Training is on Wednesday at 6pm til 7-30 and we meet at 9.30am at the club next Sunday to play away at Newcastle.
Thanks to Richard Smith for helping with the forwards today and I hope to have his input during the season.
Sam.
